EVPs BELOW!!
On Thursday, November 3, 2011, I had a guest over during the day. We left the kitchen and upon our return - the lights were all off. She pointed it out right away - we both distinctly remember them being on as we were just working in there. We moved to the living room to continue working when we both heard someone walk across the floor. When I asked her if she heard it too, she said she not only heard it but felt it in the floor boards. On November 4, I did an EVP session in the morning and didn't catch much. A lot of Aprils, some whispers and snaps, but nothing major.
Here is a clip of one of the "April" catches. During the clip, you can hear me typing, but that is it until :23 and :26 where you can clearly hear my name being whispered.

Later that afternoon, around 1 pm, I heard knocking in the kitchen. The dog went crazy, but I checked and no one was at either door.
On November 5, the house felt electric. Uneasiness poured out of me. At about 1:15 pm, I was in the bathroom doing my hair when I heard a thud behind me and immediately the front door flung open. It was windy that day and I would have dismissed it as the wind, if not for the thud preceding it. At about 1:45 that day, I heard the door kicked in and our dog went crazy barking at no one. At 2:35, my son was upstairs and I was in the living room. The door opened hard again, but this time was followed by footsteps through the kitchen.
Later that night, my daughter and her friend decided to investigate the basement in the dark. I gave them the DVR and a camera. It's about 11:30 at night, and my husband and I are on the main floor, but you can't hear us after we close the basement door behind them. It is only my daughter and her male companion. In this clip, it begins with a clear woman saying, "Why are you?" which I can't rule out as my daughter. That is, until I kept listening and heard the same female talking while my daughter is saying, "Shi, stop."

The second capture comes from about a minute into the three minute session. You can hear the gentleman working with the camera, and he says, "There's gotta be something nifty on here," to which a woman replies, "Yes, there is" and continues a conversation with a male. The conversation stops when my daughter's friend speaks again. Again, there is no one else downstairs with them. The rest of the tape is silent.
Yes, There Is
I do want to add a quick commentary. While I was looking for a definition of EVP, I stumbled across numerous skeptics websites that debate the validity of EVPs. "The Skeptic's Dictionary" http://skepdic.com/evp.html was very interesting and made some interesting points. They basically chalk EVPs up to CB radios, cell phones and other electrical interference in the atmosphere. I find this humorous - does this mean that every trucker that drives by knows my name? I have over 100 EVPs with my name alone, not to mention our girls' names. And if they are cell phone conversations - they must be very short and very odd ones - "Toot Toot?" I just wanted to put this out there to encourage discussion and to show that we are well read and open-minded to new ideas, and can shoot down numerous skeptical claims. Also, I did come across numerous articles that state Thomas Edison was the very first person to attempt to collect EVPs (although some sites say that he later retracts it). I find that pretty interesting - someone as distinguished and brilliant as Thomas Edison was open to concept of the paranormal.
